Rene Alejandro Hernandez | Artist Spotlight: Rene Alejandro Hernandez

How many years have you been a freelance illustrator?
I’ve been doing freelance projects for almost 7 years, I started my site with personal projects just after high school and soon enough I was doing some commercial stuff.
How reliable are you?
Very reliable, I’m respectful of the client’s needs and it’s a a great motivation to have them excited about the results.
In a commercial sense what can your work be applied too?
Some of my graphics + animation have been on a few TV spots so there’s really a lot of places where my work can be applied. It’s very fitting for games and illustrations that refer to games but most commonly it’s used as infographics because the isometric style lends itself to it.
Who are your top clients?
The biggest names would be Time Warner, Coca-Cola, Maxim and Pepsi. But I’ve been very happy to work with all the companies I’ve had the chance to, I appreciate great art direction and I’m very excited when more projects come from the same great people.
Apart from illustration what other skills do you have?
My spatial reasoning is pretty good so I enjoy doing some clay modeling and a few years ago I got good at making paper hot air balloons. Add to that the fact that my illustrations are like playing with Lego and you can say I got all kindergarten skills pretty much under the belt. Not to be cocky.
What’s your favourite sandwich filling?
My favorite filling is chicken but I’m impatient when making my own sandwiches so unfortunately it isn’t the most common.
