I’m really pleased and excited to be part of this year’s annual Open Studios and Galleries event in my home town of Crickhowell in the heart of the beautiful Brecon Beacons. My wife Patty Papageorgiou Axford and I will be opening up our garage door to reveal our freshly cleared out and painted shared space, where I will be exhibiting a selection of prints of my illustration work whilst Patty will be showcasing her photographic brilliance.

Our little pop-up gallery will be open from 10am – 6pm on the 25th, 26th and 27th May, and we’d love to have lots of visitors! Crickhowell is about half an hour away from Hay-on-Wye, so if you happen to be heading into the area for the literature festival, why not drop in? We are venue 12, and there are many other fantastic artists dotted around the town and surrounding area, all well worth a look!

I recently completed a piece for the Nashville City Paper about the state of the housing market. I had a great time drawing some hungry Piranhas!

Duraid contacted me with an utterly adorable idea to propose to his girlfriend, Cailah, with. He sent me a script and his girlfriend’s drawings of the cartoon versions of themselves. I drew some storyboards and did some style tests then started animating. Over a few weeks I made this by combing hand drawn vector illustrations with Adobe After Effects.

Here is what happened when Duraid played the animation for Cailah….

“I started playing the video and then left the room. Went to get the ring from the next room, and could just hear startled shrieks as the fat bunny came running on. I don’t think she clicked onto what might be happening until after the polaroids finished, at which point the tears came. By the time i entered the room and got down on one knee she was pretty much a wreck.

Main thing is she said yes. She’s made it clear that she loves having a video that she can watch at any point in the future.

Thank you so much for your work on this. It’s been a genuine pleasure seeing the thing develop from an idea into a finished product”.

Back in February I was commissioned by Transworld Publishing (a division of the Random House Group) to Illustrate the wrap-around cover and chapter title pages for ‘The Allotment Almanac’, the second book by BBC Radio 2′s resident allotment expert, Terry Walton.
