New History Editorial

New illustration for BBC History Magazine. This one is for an article on Gerrard Winstanley, founder of ‘The Diggers’, the 17th century movement which advocated the turning over of unused land to the people to till. It was a really nice brief to work on; I was asked to mix 17th century imagery with a touch of Social Realism, and had a page and a bit to work on, incorporating the title too.

The original has now gone off to Iowa where my ex-tutor Marilyn Towndrow is putting on a show at the North Wing Gallery in the Des Moines Botanical Center, called Art On The Prairie. The exhibition will run in July/August, and the BBC History article will be in the June issue.
