The University of Rochester hired John W. Tomac to create a series of illustrations for a pair of stories on the American Civil War in the latest issue of their alumni publication, Rochester Review. The first article examines the legacy of the War Between the States and how the bloodshed was absolutely necessary to preserve the union between the states and transform the country into a 20th century power. The second feature highlights the contributions of U of R alumni and students at the war’s turning point, the Battle of Gettysburg.
