I was asked by filmmaker Kristian Boruff to provide a background for his YouTube series Adventures in Deutschland, which chronicles his travels around the country of his birth. The image of an amusement park map came immediately to mind when I began looking at footage, so the result was a map view of Kris’s wacky hijinks in Germany. The subject include Rhine maidens, Berliner donuts, Kaiser Wilhelm I and…David Hasselhoff. The real challenge, apart from working so many subjects into one composition, was accommodating the layout necessary for a YouTube background. It took a lot of thumbnailing before I was happy with it!
