Baby Jane in Acapulco

Baby Jane in Acapulco is a personal illustration I completed, based on the lyrics of Roxy Music song Virginia Plain. Spot the two flamingoes, Bryan Ferry-like character driving a vintage car and the infamous Baby Jane herself enjoying a tropical cocktail. I wanted to get across the glamour, exoticism and still have a retro feel to the piece, as the song was written in the 70’s, hence my choice of bright blues and 70’s oranges and yellows.

We really loved working with Vicky. We noticed her artwork immediatley when trying to decide on an artist, because unlike a lot of retro artwork out there hers had a very natural and playful feel to it. Vicky took our feedback on-board, stayed enthusiastic and delivered more than we were expecting. We couldn’t have asked for more and we’re very happy to have her artwork featured in our #TileArt gallery.
