How many years have you been a freelance illustrator?
What can your work be applied to commercially?
I have a fairly diverse client/usage base – generally for images that have either a hyper-real, sharp, tech or conceptual look. My illustrations are often required for advertising/editorial and magazine covers, as well as West End show posters, etc.
Where would you most like to see your illustrations being used?
On billboards! Failing that, I’d really like to get into the book cover market with some sci-fi/thriller imagery!
What inspires you?
All the cliches like film, music, light & shade. Seriously, I’m very passionate about lighting and how it reveals colours or details in selective ways – it’s something I use a lot in my images.
Apart from illustration, what other skills do you have?
I’m quite a keen photographer, and I do a fair bit of animation these days as a natural progression from my illustration work. I also make a great veg curry!
What’s your favourite sandwich filling?
Cheese and onion. Sometimes its nice to add a little Marmite too!
