The true story of John “The Poodleman” Suter, was written by Karen Morss. Her story chronicles the adventures that led John to race poodles in four Iditarod Races. As the illustrator, I needed to create many scenes of sled dogs and most of them, in this book at least, were poodles. Combined with some huskies the poodles raced in four Iditarod races, and the poodles continued on to race in many other events.
Although the book will interest all ages, the 6-10 year old group may enjoy the book the most. One adventurous young reader has already trained her poodle to pull her on a sled. The book also lists some interesting facts about the dogs and Alaska’s Great Race.
