Apotheosis of Q. Aurelius Symmachus

I had some downtime after I finished a project. Unfortunately, due to contractual details, I’m not able to share that work quite yet. Instead I used my downtime for my own personal project “When Rome Fell”. The script is still unfinished, but I couldn’t resist doing some art for it. This depicts the death and apotheosis of Senator Symmachus (c.400AD), one of the last bastions of the Paganism in the Roman Senate. A lot of the imagery is taken from an ivory funerary diptych depicting his ascension to heaven (pagan heaven that is).
