Bringing out the Christmas Spirit

Whilst exploring pencil techniques, I ‘accidentally’ arrived at this creepy festive image.
I’ve been experimenting with smudging graphite and cutting in with the electric eraser to create highlights.
In truth, the graphite penetrated the surface too deeply, so I called on the trusty gouache.
The original drawing is approx 6″x6″ so I extended the background slightly in Photoshop and added the red nose for a seasonal glow.
It makes it double creepy because the young man is naked. I left him so because to add clothing, armour, towel, T-shirt and jeans etc. would nail him to a time and place.

Have a great Christmas everyone!
