I recently took part in a competition to illustrate a poster for a new event called Glug Stockholm. I was delighted to hear that my illustration won the competition and I worked with Soapbox & Sons Ltd to add the text and turn it into posters at various sizes to promote the event. Entries were also made into art prints to be sold on the night.
Based on the brief ‘Creativity in Sweden’, I came up with a viking character holding aloft a pencil. The face of the character was formed from the letter g of the Glug logo, which I noticed looked kind of like a cyclops with a smiley face. My aim was to keep the illustration fairly simple and bold for maximum impact, without over-complicating things with unnecessary detail.
Glug is a series of events for the design and creative community, based around talks and informal networking. Events are held in various cities around the world, Stockholm being the newest addition.
