Income Inequality Standoff

Most Americans probably became familiar with the term income inequality back in 2011, when a group of protesters occupied a small patch of concrete in Manhattan’s financial district. Four years later, the discussion that started in Zuccotti Park continues. Labor activists are fighting for a $15 minimum wage. The SEC is forcing companies to disclose the pay gap between the CEO and average worker. The conversation has moved from the fringe to the mainstream. As we get closer to the 2016 election and economic activity continues to stagnate, it will likely remain at the forefront. Risk Management Magazine takes a long look at the issue and offers a few suggestions as to how companies can avoid a standoff with angry employees and customers.
