With spring on our heels, I wanted to revisit an idea which came to me during Inktober. While hiking in Colorado, I noticed a lovely lantern in front of a big boulder, which seemed like a perfect place for fairies to live. Their friends soon joined for a party, and it wasn’t long until neighborhood kids went to check out all the hullabaloo. Only the resident owl wasn’t too pleased!

I’ve enjoyed making this piece so much that I’ve put together a step-by-step for your viewing pleasure, which you can find at the link below.

Happy wanderings!
Mariya

Mariya has the exceptional ability to make fantasy more vivid and vibrant. I love the subtle texture and the outrageous detail and realism, as well as the simplicity of it. _________ The illustrations in Little Moss, Big Tree are outstanding. Light pastel watercolors fill the page and invite the reader to escape and all the trees, snail, animals, and leaves are illustrated accurately with soft hues of color. __________ You taught me what was possible and expected when working with other artists. You were so patient with me while working through an unfamiliar etiquette. It was a real kindness.
