Jobinterview 2.0

L Magazine commissioned me to do a series of editorial illustrations on new ways of applying for jobs and companies using new methods to select the right candidate for a vacancy.

I came up with a concept that involves a subtle bit of humour combined with a slight bit of conceptual thinking. Getting the right person for a vacancy is about making the right match, which – when found – can be quite electrifying, hence the plugs and sockets.
Self promotion was the theme covered in the second illustration. Show off yourself. And while you’re at it, why not overdo it a little bit. (By the way: ‘ik’ is Dutch for ‘I’).
And finally, speed dating: Subconsciously knowing you’ve found the right match is something that happens within seconds. Therefore, speed dating has proven to be an effective tool to get a good first impression. In this case, the typically Dutch parking meter gives a slightly absurd touch of humour to balance the stressed situation a job interview often happens to be.
