Inktober 2016

This was my first year ever participating in Inktober. I normally consider myself a digital-only person, but this past year I’ve gotten back into drawing in my sketch book, and seeing as how I am 100% freelance I had a little more time and no more excuses to not participate. These are some of my favorites from the challenge.

And it was definitely a challenge! I haven’t used ink in a really long time and all I had were pens and markers. It was really fun to experiment with different styles, using hashing or block shading or even figuring out how to create texture with a marker that was drying out. I will definitely be participating again next year and will probably even continue to do more ink drawings throughout the year.

Some of these were just generic Halloween themed images (like witches, ravens, vampires, etc.), and some were inspired by my own stories.

"Stephanie did a wonderful job. I approached her with character ideas for a book that I had written, and she was excited to take on the project. Communicating with her was easy and quick. She responded promptly and in a timely fashion and answered all my questions. The work is great, high caliber work. She made adjustments when needed. Having illustrations done was probably the easiest part of my book marketing process thanks to Stephanie! I will definitely use her in the future."
