Over the last year I’ve been lucky enough to work on a project with Trestle Theatre in St Albans, uncovering, rediscovering and documenting Hertfordshire’s heroic women.

As Lead Artist/Illustrator I worked, not only on depictions of some of the women that we didn’t have photos for, but also created interactive work for the exhibitions, illustrations for the website, book and education packs .

One of the big successes was the colouring page I designed and drew, first in pencil and then in Adobe Illustrator showing many of the women swirling around in Queen Boudica’s hair. We had this at A1 size for the exhibition and visitors could colour them in together, learning about Herts Heroines as they went… I loved working on this colouring page and have now been asked to do some more bespoke work like this for a different project.

The website for Herts Heroines is currently www.hertshiddenheroines.org.uk, the content of which will be moving to the Herts Memories site to be kept safe forever!

Testimonial
Joanna was a dream to work with as an illustrator. As a publisher I am always looking for people who can take initiative and still provide me with exactly what I want, Joanna was amazing and seemed to read my mind, knowing what would work even if I didn't. Her work was excellent but it was her attitude to the work that would make me happy to work with her again.
