Traveler Mouse: Process
Posted 2 years ago and submitted by Shannon Szczepanski | Share link:

I thought I’d make a post giving a brief explanation of my usual process. I always start in graphite, and finish in Photoshop. For the most part, I use Multiply and Color layers, and a few Normal layers towards the end. Until my junior year of college, I was pretty stuck between wanting to work traditionally, but for some reason always going digital. Multiply layers were just the way I did color studies, I hadn’t really considered that doing an entire piece that way was valid. This method gives me the best of both worlds. I love building up values and the texture of graphite, and although this may not be the standard way of digital painting, I love that too (and being able to “paint” anywhere without creating a mess is also a plus!).
