Late this spring during April, I had the privilege of participating in the annual “Locals Only Show” at Clean Aesthetic, an Apparel Company and Art Gallery in Playa Del Rey, California. More than a dozen artists from all over were accepted into this show, myself included, to show their work that relates in some way to the beach community and culture of, and near, the town of Playa Del Rey.
I took this as an opportunity to craft more of my Pulp-Style paintings while adding a beach and surf theme, but with my own personal twist. Included was my painting titled “Atomic Summer”, which had various subtexts that I let the viewer interpret for themselves. I was pleased to learn my art got a very positive reception, and several of my Atomic Summer art prints sold during the show.
Getting ready for the show kept me very busy in addition to several current illustration projects I have in the works. The reception events were great fun and I couldn’t be more grateful to work with the staff at Clean Aesthetic, who are true lovers of the arts and just all around good people. I’m certainly looking forward to more fun art show experiences in the future.
