Lava Series
Posted 6 months ago and submitted by Joe Slucher | Share link: http://illo.cc/69926

During spare moments between jobs, I have been working on this series for nearly a year. It began with the middle frame of a woman being slowly overwhelmed by lava and was my interpretation of high anxiety. Then came the second image of the woman made of lava which is about mania and its embracing and spreading of stress. Lastly was the woman cooling and flattening the lava. Self-assured and confronting the stress with a cool (hahaha) head. I may be done painting lava for a bit, but I absolutely loved working on these. When lined up together Mania, High Anxiety and Self-Assured create one seamless image which I can’t wait to get to print.

Joe is an excellent and quick artist. He moves through his assignment list with surprising speed, and doesn't cut corners along the way. His work shows polish and great use of texture. He's patient and communicates well. I plan to keep him employed as long as he's willing to work for my business.
