‘Who Are You?’ for Changeling Artist Collective’s ‘Through the Looking Glass’ auction

I really wanted to create a companion piece for my “Alice” featured in the past news. The ongoing “Through the Looking Glass” Changeling Artist Collective auction gave me that opportunity.

My blue caterpillar is based on a humble tomato hornworm. While I really enjoy high fantasy elements, sometimes I really want to emphasize the fantastic things in our everyday world, especially when it comes to children’s literature. I really love when they get a chance to look at ordinary things through infinite possibilities.

I also think most of us wrestle with a question of our identity at times. But few of us smoke a fly agaric mushroom hookah

Mariya has the exceptional ability to make fantasy more vivid and vibrant. I love the subtle texture and the outrageous detail and realism, as well as the simplicity of it. _________ The illustrations in Little Moss, Big Tree are outstanding. Light pastel watercolors fill the page and invite the reader to escape and all the trees, snail, animals, and leaves are illustrated accurately with soft hues of color. __________ You taught me what was possible and expected when working with other artists. You were so patient with me while working through an unfamiliar etiquette. It was a real kindness.
