W Design contacted Steven Noble to render the new seal for The Massachusetts Historical Society, based on the original elements that include the symbolic beehive with several honeybees buzzing around it sitting along a river. The society is a major historical archive specializing in early American, Massachusetts, and New England history. It is located at 1154 Boylston Street in Boston, Massachusetts, and is the oldest historical society in the United States, having been established in 1791.The illustration was created in a scratchboard etching style.
