Aboriginal Mermaids and the Great Barrier Reef – My Entry for Twitter Art Exhibit 2018

I’m so happy to be taking part in the Twitter Art Exhibit again this year. This year’s venue is Canberra, Australia, with all proceeds from the sale of each original artwork going to the children’s charity, Pegasus Riding for the Disabled.

Having watched the fabulous Blue Planet series on the BBC, I thought this was an ideal opportunity to explore themes of mythology and ecology relevant to the host country in my illustration.

My piece, titled ‘What is Gone is Never Truly Lost’ was created using ink and watercolour, and revolves around the themes of regeneration, reconnecting with, and fighting for, the preservation of our natural environment.

I hope it arrives safely in Australia and sells quickly to raise much-needed funds for this great cause!

Chris was able to transfer my boyfriend’s exact thoughts to paper of a scene of a kangaroo fighting a grizzly bear. Chris was able to illustrate this scene just the way my boyfriend has always described he wanted it to look. Not only was the illustration awesome, but Chris was also so easy to work with and made sure the illustration would be finished in time for Christmas. I would absolutely recommend Chris as an illustrator!
