My latest collaboration with Two Tides Brewing Company had me designing the label for their newest alcoholic concoction “AquaLung” A dry hopped IPA with Pilsner hops and wonderfully citrusy Simcoe and Galaxy hops.
The art direction for this particular batch was to focus on the depth of the ocean, the vastness of how deep and dark oceanic exploration could be. We also had to keep in mind the Brewery’s collaborator, New Realm Brewing Company, who was on-site helping with the beer’s production. Fusing the color palettes of both breweries, with Two Tides having a light and dark teal and New Realm having a minty green and gold, we found a nice gradient of color and texture that appealed to both their aesthetics. We placed an accurate diver suit from the time of the Aqualung’s construction back during the exploits of Jacques Cousteau. I combined digital drawing with texture photography and halftone textures to create the ocean effects then drew the diver separately so I could rescale him as needed.
The file piece was printed for 16 oz cans and stocked at the brewery and around Savannah package shops, and is currently also being used on Two Tide’s Facebook page.
