The Falvia de Luce series from Alan Bradley is a treat to read. It has a cast of interesting characters, but I found Dodger to be my favorite.

A former British POW, now he tends the garden and is the confidant of Flavia. Of everyone in the patchwork family, Dodger – suffering from shell shock and nightmarish memories of war – understands Flavia the best and acts as friend and co-conspirator.

Amanda Zimmerman has a great understanding of color, proportions and layout of a children's color picture book. She executed well and on time. I'd recommend her work to anyone interested in animals, historical topics, or general children's picture books.
