Portrait Commission

Before the holidays, I had a request for a portrait commission from a woman I had painted a few years ago playing chess.

Portraits are always hard because we never see ourselves the same way that an audience sees us. And so for this one, I really wanted to preserve the likeness, but infuse it with the love that my client obviously has for their partner.

Testimonial
Mariya has the exceptional ability to make fantasy more vivid and vibrant. I love the subtle texture and the outrageous detail and realism, as well as the simplicity of it.
