Water Lily Pond

One of my goals in 2019 is to start working large scale. So before the holidays I made a 9 x 36 inch watercolor and ink study with the aim of taking out the individual elements and reworking them into the design, but I really loved the composition and brought it to a rough finish. Looking forward to turning it into a life size detailed piece in the future.

Mariya has the exceptional ability to make fantasy more vivid and vibrant. I love the subtle texture and the outrageous detail and realism, as well as the simplicity of it. _________ The illustrations in Little Moss, Big Tree are outstanding. Light pastel watercolors fill the page and invite the reader to escape and all the trees, snail, animals, and leaves are illustrated accurately with soft hues of color. __________ You taught me what was possible and expected when working with other artists. You were so patient with me while working through an unfamiliar etiquette. It was a real kindness.
