Illustrations featured in new book

I am delighted to be in the company of so many talented illustrators featured in the book, ‘The Power and Influence of Illustration’ written by Professor Alan Male and published by Bloomsbury. My silver award winning parakeets from the London Transport Museum/Association of Illustrators ‘Prize for Illustration’ are included; along with a Bittern illustration and a piece of public art created for the Amy Johnston Festival held in Hull in 2016.

“Alan Male explains how illustrative imagery can lampoon, shock, insult, threaten, subvert, ridicule, express discontent and proclaim political and religious allegiance. He explores how its tools have been used in the past, and looks at how contemporary illustrators can use their own work to persuade – and discusses where the line between persuasion and propaganda lies. These issues are explored using hundreds of full colour images from international artists, both contemporary and historical.”

The book is released on the 21st February.
