One of my hobbies is capturing likenesses, I love drawing and painting faces.
This year I decided to enter two drawing competitions, the Coventry University Drawing Competition (where I lecture part time) and the Sky Portrait Artist of the year.
To enter the Sky Portrait Artist of the year you had to create a self-portrait (which I’ll admit was like pulling teeth), and accompany it with another portrait. The “other” portrait was one I had created recently in watercolour and pencil crayon of my girlfriend, specifically for the Coventry competition.
Unfortunately I didn’t get into the Sky Portrait Artist of the year. But I did make the second round of the Coventry University Drawing Competition and the piece will be exhibited in two separate Coventry galleries.
