Running like Clockwork

I am delighted to be a part of Hire An Illustrator’s Jules Verne Exhibition in April!

I chose to illustrate “80 Days Around the World,” and present one large composition and a series of portraits of the main characters. In this work, I tried not so much to express myself as to get as close as possible to the author of the text.

The Victorian era… Never before has humanity been so educated, so powerful. Locomotives, steams, air balloons. It is already possible to go around the entire globe in just 80 days – the main thing is to follow the schedules and instructions – and everything will be fine. And the future will be even better – hunger, epidemics, savages prejudices, wars will be conquered… (In any case, the people of that time represented so). They were optimistic, they were Running like Clockwork.
