It’s been a long time coming but issue #1 of “Alice and the Invaders from Wonderland” is finished and available for download from Comixology.

Back in 2014 I began tentatively working with writer (and comic artist in his own right) Bret M. Herholz to redesign the iconic characters, giving them a new steampunk vibe. Some time around 2016 after an unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign, I committed to drawing the comic anyway, fitting it in between projects as and when I could.

The story is set in a post-apocalyptic Victorian London which has been all but decimated by the Queen of Hearts. An older, teenage Alice and her plucky band of freedom fighters fight back against the tyranny, utilising the Mad Hatter’s curious devices and Alice’s mystical “Vorpal Blade”.

Myself and Bret are very proud of the pages found within, my personal favourite part being the Bandersnatch chase sequence which has elements of horror and (hopefully) suspense.

Paul Loudon created approximately 90 artworks for me for a series of children’s reading books. The brief was to create a set of characters in a naturalistic style to complement a more graphic approach within the books. We were extremely happy with the work Paul carried out and how well he hit the marks of the brief. His approach was considered and sympathetic to the series style and age-appropriate. His work was well-timed and amends were carried out promptly. I would definitely work with Paul again.
