Def Stalker portrait for fine art print series

I painted this ‘Def Stalker’ portrait as one of a set of zombie-inspired pieces. Combined they make a set of 5 A4 fine art prints I’ve produced and are part of the ever-growing comic cover series.

I don’t use fonts for the titles, as I want them to be part of the illustration and add to the story for that individual piece. Each word/letter is worked out, drawn to fit the piece, then painted as part of the whole illustration.

Portraits are always fun to do, I like to capture a moment, be it subtle or obvious rather than just a static portrait. A bit like one of those funky photos that don’t make it to your high school year book!

Toby took a hastily drawn concept sketch and with a few pertinent questions he was able to tease out all the detail he needed to complete Gerald the bear. After deciding on a palette I left him to his own devices and the result was an artful rendition of the concept replete with Toby's signature flair.
