“Klee” is the newest piece in my illustrated series “Anomalies”.
Each piece has a story behind it, and this one is the reflection of one girl’s decent into the deepest depths of isolation.
“Due to a respiratory condition with drowning like symptoms, she’s been in and out of the hospital for most of her life. The constant displacement from family, school and social life has led to a life of doing little more than “exchanging one boring room for another,” as she likes to say. Solace and warmth come to her in the form of a tub, where she drifts off each night with dreams of being a fish. Swept away by the current, she finds herself far from the pain.”
I had a lot of fun doing the collage work on this. The background is largely done in watercolor while the subject pieces were all inked by hand, crumpled for texture, and then colored digitally.
If you like this piece and want to see more from me head over and check out my Portfolio and don’t be afraid to drop me a line if your interested in working together.
