Manchester United ‘Treble Quest’ game for Fuzzy Duck

Fuzzy Duck, a Media City (Salford, UK) design house hired me to work on a project for Manchester United Football Club. Exciting, not only because my hastily-typed stream of emails actually yielded a client, but of course Manchester United are huge.

The final product is an interactive touch-screen game located on a large display in the Manchester United Store, Old Trafford. Think of it as Football Manager-lite. As the name suggests the player has to guide Man U through to win “the treble” in the year 1999. The three cups being The Champion’s League, FA Cup and Premier League trophy.

Essentially you get to be Sir Alex Ferguson for about 10 mins – chewing gum and po-face, not essential. Other footie luminaries featured are David Beckham, Ole Gunnar Solkjear and Ryan Giggs… also Tony Adams and David Seaman raising a cup (if you lose).

Paul Loudon created approximately 90 artworks for me for a series of children’s reading books. The brief was to create a set of characters in a naturalistic style to complement a more graphic approach within the books. We were extremely happy with the work Paul carried out and how well he hit the marks of the brief. His approach was considered and sympathetic to the series style and age-appropriate. His work was well-timed and amends were carried out promptly. I would definitely work with Paul again.
