Scandinavian Folk Story

A couple of spots from a project I am working on. It’s a coming of age story, set with three generations of Swedish women, the granddaughter, mother and grandmother. These are the first drawings in development. I’m excited with how they have turned out. The story is still in progress but I’ve been loving researching the costumes, especially because it’s a way to look back on my own history with my mother and grandmother.

The drawing of the child with her grandmother is based off of one of my own memories, of my grandmother teaching me to embroider. I actually have some of my great grandmother’s embroidery, too. So it’s a big generational pull for me.
