Cover design for Deriva new EP, Haiku I

The guys from Deriva, a post-rock instrumental band from Spain contacted me to commission the cover for their new EP called “Haiku I”. Haikus are traditional Japanese poems formed by three verses. The EP is presented in the form of one of this poems where each song´s title is one of the three verses.

I wanted to make a minimalistic and elegant design for the cover. Taking their music and the haiku itself as inspiration, I began to explore for ideas. I worked a lot on the lines to make it fluid and clean, then I colored it in Photoshop using a muted and limited limited palette.

Thank you for reading, you can listen to Deriva’s new EP on every streaming platform.
