Three Witches

Now that Halloween is coming, the weather starts to get colder and everything looks darker, it seems appropriate to share some spooky illustrations. These three witches are secondary characters from the picture book I started creating during my children’s book illustration summer course at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. It was a very intense and fun week full of challenges and lots of drawing.

I was stuck trying to come up with some dark witches that didn’t look like the stereotypical old and ugly lady wearing black, but then I realized I had the perfect models right in front of me! These three come from three of my tutors in Cambridge that week, and I tried to convey their personality as well as their look, to give the characters a more developed feeling.

I want to get a few spreads done as final artwork to add to the dummy book as soon as I have some time and see if anyone is interested in publishing it. I had lots of fun working on it and I’m really hoping that kids have fun reading it someday as well.
