Cover art for The Amazon Legacy

An illustration I created over the summer for author Zenay Ben Yochanan and her book The Amazon Legacy. Every assignment presents its own unique set of challenges and this one was no exception in that the cover had to be a relatively simple, graphic image while at the same time give equal weight to the book’s two protagonists and say something about their relationship to each other. I thoroughly enjoy conceptual imagery and this is especially true for me when working on covers as they so often need to convey a lot of information in a very simple image. Because of this, I spend lots of time thinking about the layering of themes and how to compose the image so that the most important themes are the most apparent while the secondary and tertiary themes might initially be lost on the reader only to be realized after learning more about the plot.

This will be the first in a series so look forward to seeing more down the line!
