Breakfast – When a hunk of stone grows a heart

This image was for the monthly Character Design Challenge. The prompt was gargoyle. I knew that I wanted to draw something with a bit more of a story, rather than just a straight character design, and I knew I wanted my gargoyle to be kind.

A true nuisance of gargoyles is pigeons and other birds – they roost on the gargoyles horns, use them as a bathroom, leave feathers everywhere, etc. I wanted my gargoyle to have a friend though and perhaps twist the relationship of the pigeon and gargoyle into something loving and kind.

That is where this image begins – a relationship between a little, helpless bird, and a kind old gargoyle (of course the worm doesn’t think much of the situation!).

Enjoy!
