Korean Fantasy Painting for The Red Altar Group Show in LA

This oil painting was created for the Red Altar group show back in October. The theme of the show was East Asian Mysticism and Shamanism so I chose to paint about my own Korean heritage.

Loosely based on an obscure myth originating from Jeju island off the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula, this piece depicts the god of war Koenegitto who, upon striking his gong, could summon his army of millions out of thin air.
