The Vista Boca Loca Social Club is partying tonight!
Something different from me. I had thought illustrating lingerie and pub signs was different enough, but this was a poster for New York based theatre company Chalant Productions. CP approached me before Christmas and asked me to create a poster for their forthcoming production. The play is magnificently titled, The Vista Boca Loca Social Club. It would be great if they would perform it in the UK, because I would love to see it.
Grace & Frankie
It is about four women, living in a Florida Condominium who set up a club called The Vista Boca Loca Social Club. The club holds the most outrageous parties and hell raising fun (I am guessing from the bra hanging over a lampshade)! It sounds like a cross between The Golden Girls and Netflix’s Grace & Frankie (I love both shows I might add). It was great fun and something a bit different for me to work on.
Get it right for the Golden Girls!
My art was being edited by a whole team rather than one person. I am used to working with teams, as it is something you come across when working with educational publishers. However it does mean the whole process can take a little longer. As a result the poster evolved organically into this amazingly bright, crazy image, which to me feels rather hot and steamy (temperature)! The poster has been created in Photoshop with some hand drawn line work. I don’t normally create images that look this digital, but the client specified something digitally created and digital looking. Chalant Productions also wanted me to use holiday-fever inducing colours, so it is a departure from my usual style.
So if you need a poster, or pub sign, or merchandise artwork for men’s pants, or indeed anything (the more bizarre the better, I guess) contact me here!
The final poster is the darker blue version, but as there was a kaleidoscope of other tropical versions, I thought I’d share another in this post too! Hope you like ’em?
