Mental health for children

I started 2020 with a need to create an illustrative journal. This allows me greater understanding in creating characters that better reflect the needs of our society and how it would impact our children. January started with facial expressions and body language. Issues like mental health have been on my mind, especially for children.

Children learn a lot about their emotions and how to express from the visual cues of their environment. Things can get overwhelming for young children to understand the complexities of their own emotions. As an illustrator, I believe portraying strong emotions like anger, disgust or even frustration, helps children to name their emotions.
