April is usually a month that I partake in a plein-air painting challenge with a group of friends. A painting a day for the whole month of a local vista. However because of the ongoing pandemic we’ve not been able to venture too far outside (at least around here in LA) so instead I challenged myself to to pick up a new painting program one of my friends is developing here called Heavypaint. I’m not sure why I landed on the cyberpunk motif, but it presented a great challenge for sharpening my eye for color and composition. The tools of the program naturally lend themselves towards graphic shapes and it was interesting to figure out new ways of approaching these paintings. I completed all of these on my iPad while finding photo references on various cyberpunk Instagram pages. You can see the full set on my Artstation page!
