For the Love of Tomatoes

They Draw and Cook has been issuing fun challenges based on what we’re all cooking while on lockdown. One of the latest prompts was celebrating canned and boxed pantry staples. My pantry is always stocked full of canned tomatoes of all types. Most of my go-to recipes include tomatoes, beans, veggie broth, and even jarred salsa. I don’t have a favorite brand, so my pantry is a colorful collage of different labels, colors, and typefaces. Here’s a fun pattern featuring some of them.

I had the pleasure of commissioning Melissa to create a fundraising illustration for dragonfly conservation. Melissa not only delivered a captivating image, on deadline, she also went above and beyond by hand-coloring each and every one of her prints. Melissa is a talented professional who understands the big impact of small details and going the extra mile. I wholeheartedly endorse Melissa as an illustrator, a professional, and a genuinely nice person.
