Portraits for Demos

Every semester, I do a number of portrait demos for a digital painting class that I teach. Here are a few of those portraits based on some movies I’ve watched over the past couple of years including Blade Runner 2049, Ad Astra and 1917. It’s always a challenge to paint while talking and explaining the thought process, talking about color, brushwork and how to capture a lifelike quality. Some took longer while others were quick, but all followed the same general process.
