A 30″ x 40″ oil painting that was created for a now postponed group show in LA. I was about 75% of the way completed in March when the show was postponed indefinitely and I only recently went back and finished it up.
The image is a depiction of the Korean folk song roughly translated to “The Song of the Abandoned Princess Bari” which tells of the abandonment of Bari by her parents at birth. As she grows older, she hears that her parents have fallen ill and can only be healed with a potion concocted with the flowers and water from a particular pond which she does as an act of forgiveness and reconciliation.
