My latest children’s book project involved a full set of illustrations for a sweet new book, Hector the Inspector by Elaine Bourret. It’s a story of a little boy with a lot of big feelings, who needs a little help and a little imagination to find the good in the world around him. It gives children a new way to look at their own feelings and to investigate the world around them.

Elaine had a very clear idea of the look and feel she wanted Hector to have, and it was such fun to work together to bring him to life. I wanted to capture a world that is bright and busy and full, and can be overwhelming for a small boy, but also has space for calm and focus. I loved making each painting full of color and energy.
