A private commission turns into a beautiful portrait

I was recently contacted to do a private portrait via my website. While my style generally leans towards a more cartoony kind of art, doing portraits is always a fun challenge. It allows me to flex my painting muscles a bit more than the simple coloring I do on my cartoon work and lets me really get in there and play with light, shadow and coloring. While I try my best to capture the subject I also like to give these portraits a bit more of an “artsy” look than a simple photograph and give the client something special that a photo can never capture.
