This piece was created as part of a collaborative retirement gift for my old MA (and first year BA) tutor at University College Falmouth. The idea was suggested by his colleague – one of the other alumni – who asked that we all send a postcard-sized piece of art to go in a collector’s box. I wanted to create something new, that reflected my time in Falmouth. As a student, that predominantly meant beer, seagulls, seaside and beer. So my contribution is a two-layer linocut of Custom House Quay in Falmouth, home to The Quayside and Chain Locker pubs, as well as Cornwall’s infamous Trago Mills store (just out of shot).
