Illustrated branding for Chess Girls DC

In the summer of 2020, I participated in the virtual Design-A-Thon, a 24-hour design marathon to create a set of branding materials for an assigned client, hosted by the Washington, DC chapter of AIGA. My team received “Chess Girls DC”, a nonprofit offering chess to the youth in the DC community. I was paired with an amazing team of designers and content creators, and spearheaded the team in recreating/updating the client’s logo in an illustrated format, as well as creating surface illustrations for advertising materials, tablecloths, and more.

All chess pieces and patterns utilized by the team were illustrated by me prior to the 24-hour event. Illustrations were utilized for merchandise materials, surface designs for promotional flyers, website imagery, and more.

Digital illustrations. Created with Procreate.

Leah is passionate, professional and so talented. The vinyl wall mural she designed for Shenandoah University's Mosaic Center for Diversity is the focal point of our space and gets compliments from every person who visits the Mosaic Center. I can't recommend Leah Sayles more highly!
