Board game concept art

I’m currently working on the beginning stages of a board game and made a few style test illustrations to get ready. The actual theme of the game won’t be “Korean Mushrooms”, but will have a similar direction, so while these style experiments are personal, they’re a great starting point for the actual game.

This experimental stage is great for playing around with formats, card layouts, and testing an overall look for the illustrations themselves – going with natural colors and lighting, nearly realistic watercolor rendering, but slightly fantastical motifs.

Lately, it just so happened that I got involved in several tabletop, card, and board game projects, and while most of them are still in the early stages, it’s been an interesting learning experience and definitely something I want to pursue more of.

The illustrations themselves have another use: They’ll be available as a set of prints here in Korea, at several local shops on Jeju Island.
